Designers and Makers of Modern Cabinetry
What we do
McCormack Joinery creates cabinetry that enhances the everyday lives of our clients bringing them pleasure for years to come. We hope our joinery will be used and loved, becoming part of your life whilst bringing the tactile, calming qualities of wood into your home.
We offer a completely project managed service, from initial concept and design through to manufacture and installation. We specialise in kitchens but also make cupboards, shelving and other cabinetry for bathrooms, bedrooms and living rooms. All of our work is bespoke and we work with you to create a one-off, individual design that is tailored to you and your home.
We are as much designers as we are joiners and so our approach is to place equal emphasis on the visual, the practical and craftsmanship. Traditional joinery from around the world provides inspiration as well as design movements such as Arts and Crafts and Modernism.
We value the materials we use and aim to make joinery that is lasting, repairable and has a low environmental impact. For this reason, we mainly use British and European hardwoods and favour birch plywood for carcasses, especially in kitchens.
Our kitchens usually start at around £20,000 (excluding worktops and appliances)
How we work
A successful outcome stems from the collaboration between the client, ourselves and the architect if you are using one. The design will naturally take shape and grow as the project progresses. The first step is for us to discuss your brief and plans upon which we can give you an indication of cost. If appointed, we then work with you to produce a first set of drawings which serve as the basis for the design. We refine the form and function of the design until it is perfectly tailored to you, your lifestyle and your home. Once the drawings are signed off and we have taken final measurements, the design is passed to the workshop for production. All of our joinery is then made and finished in our Essex workshop by our team of skilled makers ready for packing and then installation. The same craftsperson who made your piece of joinery will be the one who then comes to install it for you. We welcome visits by appointment to our Place Farm workshop in Essex.
Who We Are
In 2008, after training as a furniture maker, Paul set up his first workshop in East London and later moved to an old horse yard in the Essex countryside. All of our furniture is designed, handmade and finished at the workshop by our team of skilled craftspeople.
